Whether it’s whacked on a postcard, put on a t-shirt, sold as a picture or used by brands as a backdrop to promote their goods or services. But this is absolutely not true. The same rights that protect street artists artworks also protect other creatives. For example, photographers. After using a Revok mural (without permission) as a backdrop for an ad campaign, the company was challenged by the artist, requested to cease and desist and countered this request by filing a lawsuit against Revok, stating that any and all unsanctioned or illegal artwork should be devoid of copyright protection.
